Weekend Wind-Down Yin Yoga

Fri 9th Nov, 2018
Fri 14th Dec, 2018
Fri 11th Jan, 2019

Soothe your body, mind and soul at the end of the week with a mindful, nurturing yoga practice.
Release tension, relieve stress, find solace from the hectic pace of modern life and the pressures or expectations of work, family and social commitments.

This class is suitable for everyone, regardless of experience. We will take things slowly and mindfully, using gentle movements to connect to our breath and come into our bodies. The practice leads on to restorative yin yoga where we use longer holds in passive postures to allow for deep, gradual release at the connective tissue level. This gives time and space for reflection, contemplation and cultivates receptivity while being deeply calming and rejuvenating.

Practice will always include breath-work to soothe the mind and ease you into awareness. We close with savasana, total relaxation which may be guided or held in nurturing quiet, to access a state of deep, nourishing rest.

Suitable for: Everyone and anyone. Students who are new to yoga will find Yin a gentle enough style to follow along, and those with more yoga experience can go deeper into the mental, subtle and meditative aspects of the practice.

Rest & Restore Yoga with Yoga Nidra

6 Week Course

A course for anyone looking to bring some more relaxation into their lives, especially if winding down is difficult for you, if perhaps you have trouble sleeping or find you are not rejuvenated by the rest you do get.

There will be breath practices to soften the edges, helping to calm the body and mind. Gentle movement and restorative yoga to get out of your head and into your body, allowing your system to release tension and settle into comfortable rest. The movement part of class is very gentle, so those with injuries or who are hesitant about their ability to participate in a yoga class are welcomed to this practice.

We follow with a deliciously long Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) – a potent meditative guided relaxation practice for healing, insight, and empowerment. This involves getting really comfortable, usually lying down snuggled in with bolsters and blankets, and allowing the voice of the teacher to guide you through a journey of awareness. As your awareness moves around your body and beyond deeper relaxation and calm can occur, creativity and insight can arise and whatever healing is needed may begin. Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness in which we are invited to re-encounter the essential truth of who we really are. In this space we are provided the opportunity to experience deep freedom and deeply nourishing rest. We are welcomed home to ourselves.

Suitable for all, no experience necessary – All welcome!

Suitable for: Absolutely everyone

Kirtan with Sivani Mata

The Yogic Practice of Heart-Centred Singing

Fri 19th Oct, 2018

KIRTAN is to come together as a community in songs of freedom.

Singing the profoundly healing sounds of sanskrit mantra effortlessly drops our awareness out of our busy minds and into our hearts.  Kirtan is from the path of Bhakti Yoga (pure love and compassion), and co-created by the community present it can manifest as soft and sweet or wild and ecstatic. It can be deeply moving and incredibly joyful, and can bring us to a state of calm and/or elation.  Sivani Mata and friends will accompany these healing sounds with live music (harmonium & drum, guitar) to support our beautiful journey.  Come add your heart and voice to the melting pot.

All welcome, no experience necessary.
